University of Yamanashi Signs MOU with Institute of Technology of Cambodia

On September 2, 2025, Professor MAO Xiaoyang, Executive Director and Vice President (Global Initiatives), Professor NISHIZAKI Hiromitsu, Director of the Center for Promotion of Internationalization, and Professor MIYAMOTO Kazuko, Vice Director of the Center for Promotion of Internationalization from the University of Yamanashi, visited the Institute of Technology of Cambodia (ITC) to participate in the MOU signing ceremony.
The signing ceremony was held at the ITC main campus in Phnom Penh, the capital of Cambodia. From ITC, key members including H.E. Prof. Dr. PO Kimtho, Director General, Dr. BUN Long, Deputy Director General for Research and Cooperation, and Dr. SIM Tepmony, Director of the Graduate School, attended the ceremony.
During the ceremony, following a welcome speech by Director General PO Kimtho, Professor MAO delivered remarks expressing expectations for strengthening cooperative relations between the two universities. Subsequently, representatives from both universities signed the agreement, formally establishing enhanced collaboration in academic exchange, research cooperation, and student and faculty exchanges.
After the signing ceremony, the delegation toured major research facilities on the ITC campus. They visited state-of-the-art research facilities including the SATREP (Science and Technology Research Partnership for Sustainable Development) laboratory, DC laboratory (Robotics), Panasonic Training Center, and Nanostructure and Chemical Analysis laboratory, and exchanged views on possibilities for future joint research.
The University of Yamanashi has been accepting excellent graduates from the Institute of Technology of Cambodia as graduate students, contributing to human resource development primarily in engineering fields. This agreement is expected to further promote the acceptance of graduate students, as well as establish broader collaborative relationships including the launch of joint research projects and academic exchanges between faculty members.
The Institute of Technology of Cambodia is known as the premier institution for engineering higher education in Cambodia, playing a crucial role in developing highly skilled technical personnel who support the country’s industrial development. Through this agreement, by leveraging the strengths of both universities to develop fruitful exchanges, we will contribute to the advancement of engineering education and research in the Asian region.
