Mr. Fujimori Hiroaki and Mr. Kinoshita Kengo received excellent speaker awards in the Japan Society of Civil Engineering 2016 Annual Meeting held at Tohoku University on September 7 – 9th, 2016.

The title of Mr. Fujimori’s presentation was “Study on the grasp of the water distribution due to the unsaturated seepage of soil by using MRI”. The study suggests that complicated unsaturated seepage behavior can be easily visualized, and these finding will lead to the elucidation of relevance of slope collapse and the piping phenomenon with the rainfall.

Mr. Fujimori said “It is my great honor to receive such a big award. I truly appreciate the cooperation from the members in the lab and the stuff of faculty of medicine for this research.”

The title of Mr. Kinoshita’s presentation was “Strain occurrence mechanism at the seismic for the underground lifeline in Kofu city with three-dimensional irregular base”. The study suggests that strain occurrence mechanism at the seismic for the underground lifeline in Kofu city which has a three-dimensionally complicated ground structure can be examined by making a scale model using a Quasi-three-dimensional Ground Model and based on eigenvalue analysis and seismic response analysis. It can be expect that seismic damage estimation for the underground lifeline in Kofu city by using actual ground as future research.

Mr. Kinoshita said “It is my great honor to elect my research as an excellent speaker. I truly appreciate the cooperation from the members in the lab for this research.”
