On Monday, February 21, 2022, University of Yamanashi starts COVID-19 Workplace Vaccination (3rd dose).
The university set up vaccination sites at the Kofu Campus and the Faculty of Medicine Campus, and plans to vaccinate students, faculty members and their families, other educational institutions in Yamanashi prefecture, and companies that request it.
In the prefecture, the omicron strain has been spreading, and there are outbreak clusters happening at many of facilities. The university started the 3rd dose of vaccinations earlier than expected, so we were interviewed by many of the press on the start day.
President Shinji Shimada said,” The 3rd dose is the most effective in reducing the spread of the Omicron strain. Some people worried about side effects from the vaccine, but I recommend the 3rd dose of COVID -19 vaccination.”
We plan to vaccinate a maximum of 860 people per day at both campuses by the end of April.
We will continue to concentrate our efforts on taking counter measures against COVID-19.
