University of Yamanashi & Yamanashi Prefectural University “Washi Making Tour – Washi Making Experience & Handmade Washi Factory Tour”.

 On Monday, January 10, 2022, the “Washi/Japanese Paper Making Tour—Washi Making and Handmade Washi Factory Tour” was held. This programme was held for the benefit of international students from Yamanashi Prefectural University and University of Yamanashi. By attending the tour, international students from both universities deepened their knowledge of Japanese culture through the use of washi, a specialty of Yamanashi.
 This was a valuable learning opportunity for international students to experience Japanese culture first hand and strengthen their cross-cultural understanding. In addition, students from Yamanashi Prefectural University and University of Yamanashi participated in this programme, which also led to an active exchange between international students from the two universities.
 The participants commented “It was very precious to see valuable traditional techniques at the washi paper factory. It was difficult to actually try making washi, but it is a good memory for me to be able to experience Japanese culture”.
