Prof. Takahiro Takei got the Academic Award of the Japanese Association of Inorganic Phosphorus Chemistry on 16th Sep. in 2021.
This is awarded to the researcher who achieved excellent performance in inorganic phosphorus chemistry. His title is “Research on Formation of Hybrid Materials with Ion Exchange in Interlayer Space of Layered Metal Phosphate”. Since the layered metal phosphates have relatively high acidity and high thermal durability, they may be a strong candidate for proton conductors and ion exchangers. Prof. Takei reported the unique behavior of the introduction of polymer or rare-earth cation by ion exchange reaction. He found out the hybridization with conductive polymer cation shows the good property of electrochemical capacitor, and hydration degree of rare-earth cation in the interlayer space of the layered metal phosphate becomes higher than that in the aqueous solution. This behavior seems to be opposite to the general tendency for cation exchange, suggesting a kind of origin of the proton conduction.
Prof. Takei said “I am very honored that a series of these researches was evaluated. I’ll give a spirit for such research in the future.”
