International Exchange Event “African Culture Day” Was Held/举办国际交流活动“African Culture Day”

  On Friday, June 26, 2020, the International Center of our university held an online event “African Culture Day” with 35 participation from Japan and abroad, including our university’s students and faculties, other students and international students in Yamanashi Prefecture, and their families.
  At the event, international students from the Republic of Madagascar and Burkina Faso introduced their own countries and held quizzes related to Africa, allowing participants to learn about the climate and culture of African countries. Also, on “African Dance Exercise,” international students dressed in traditional costumes took the lead in performing African dance moves with live drumming. Additionally, international students from Madagascar celebrated the 60th anniversary of Madagascar’s independence (June 26) online with family, then our university’s staff who have lived in Africa shear their experiences and introduce our university’s connections with Africa.
  A question and answer session was held between the international students and other participants. Moreover, elementary and high school students from the prefecture asked questions about African culture in English, making for a heartwarming day.

 令和2年6月26日(星期五),本校国际交流中心主办的“African Culture Day”在互联网线上举行,包括本校的学生・教职工、山梨县内的学生、留学生及其家属等国内外约35人参加了该活动。
 活动中,来自非洲马达加斯加共和国和布基纳法索的留学生介绍了自己的祖国,进行了与非洲地区相关的猜谜活动,参加者们还学习了非洲各国的风土文化。
 此外,以“African Dance Exercise”为题,身着非洲传统服装的留学生在现场一边演奏太鼓,一边表演经过改编的非洲舞蹈动作。
 此外,来自马达加斯加的留学生与其家人、朋友一起在线庆祝了马达加斯加独立60周年纪念日(6月26日),曾经到访过非洲的本校职员也介绍了其非洲逗留经验,以及本校与非洲之间的来往关系等。
 作为活动的中心,留学生和参加者们进行了在线答疑,县内的小学生和高中生们用英语询问了非洲文化相关的一些问题。
