On Wednesday, April 1, 2020, a research paper by Mr. Itsuki Ogawa ( advisor: Associate Professor Masanori Morise, currently at Meiji University), a second-year master’s student in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering of the Graduate School of Engineering, was selected as a “Excellent Student Paper” by The Institute of Electronics, Information and Communication Engineers (IEICE). This award is given to papers that have been published in the special issue of the IEICE Transactions for students papers that are deemed to be of particularly high quality. This year, eight student papers were published, and two papers, including one by Ms. Ogawa, were selected as outstanding papers.
The theme of his research was “Development and Evaluation of a Perceptual Model for Measuring Sound Quality of Mel-Cepstrum-Modified Speech”, and he proposed a method to objectively evaluate the sound quality degradation of processed speech, and demonstrated its effectiveness through a series of detailed experiments.
Mr. Ogawa said, “I am honored to have been selected for the Excellent Student Paper Award. I am very grateful to everyone for their guidance and cooperation.”
