Materials and Environment Technology

Summary

In order to create a comfortable living environment for humankind in the future, it is essential to solve the energy and environmental problems. The Institute of Materials and Environment Technology aims at the invention and creation of technology for humankind and natural environment. Research and education, crossing the borders of previous fields of studies and integrating different research fields for the development of materials and environment technology, will be conducted in the institute. As shown in the figure, the institute integrates six kinds of research fields and is composed of two research centers.

Materials Technology

The division is mainly for the basic research and education of the concepts from atoms and molecules to macroscopic levels for the creation of new materials and functioning, clean energy and materials conversion, and new diagnosis technology for materials.

Environment Technology

The division is mainly for the research and education or water circulation on continental or basin scale, to urban environment, and biotechnology development related to the advanced technology of nature, living beings, ecological system, and urban environment for humankind.

Under the common efforts of the professors and researchers from several departments including Mechanical System Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Civil and Environmental Engineering, and Applied Chemistry and Biological Engineering, as well as Clean Energy Research Center, the Institute of Enology and Viticulture, and center for crystal science and Technology, students with above multi-disciplines knowledge will be trained and educated in the institute.
