Summary

The division of Nursing Science is designed to train nursing specialists who obtain scientific knowledge and skills for improving nursing care. By offering classes both day and night, it enables working students to attend school. Course consists of common subjects (Nursing Health Statistics, Nursing Environment, Disease and Treatment, Nursing Education, Nursing Research Method, and Advanced Nursing Ethics (starting in 2004)) and 5 areas of nursing speciality.
Areas of nursing speciality are as follows. In Fundamental Nursing, students obtain theoretical and educational knowledge of the Foundations for nursing and nursing management in the health care system. In Clinical Nursing, students obtain ability to evaluate health problems in persons with chronic and acute illnesses and mental disorders, and learn about nursing practices of promotion on life-style reconstruction and self-management. In Maternal and Child Health Nursing, students learn about childbearing in women and the growth and development in children, and nursing practices to promote maternal and family health. In Community Health Nursing, students will learn health issues in the community and roles and function of nursing professionals. Further, by taking CNS required subjects, students will be eligible to take a certification exam for the Clinical Nurse Specialist. In Gerontological Nursing, students obtain knowledge and skills for providing care of the elderly with chronic health problems and their families.
