General Description of the Four Divisions of the Faculty of Education and Human Sciences

Division of Interdisciplinary Sciences

Recently, the global level of awareness on environmental issues and the borderless nature of informatization are thought to be major factors for dramatic changes of the modern society. To correspond to these two great movements, not only a conventional viewpoint of natural science, but also a comprehensive viewpoint of human life-style, culture, and customs is essential. A scientific and technological method to integrate the wide rage of academic areas described above has led to "Interdisciplinary Sciences". This is a new approach to scientific research which is gentle to both humans and the environment.

This division offers two courses. The first one is the Environmental Science Course focusing on research on environmental issues. The second is the Mathematics and Physics Course where students mainly study mathematical science that becomes the basis of the information society. In either course, students learn fundamental knowledge of natural science to approach the environment or information as well as gain a deeper understanding of various issues widely involving in the human activities of modern society. Our goal here is to foster people who can make full use of information analysis technology and who can respond to the environmental issues scientifically.
